More than 15 years in the high-precision systems market

History

Gennady Nikolaevich Pirogov (1949–2014)

Gennady Nikolaevich Pirogov was born on February 5, 1949, in the village of Osolodka, Chelyabinsk Region. A graduate of the Kazan Aviation Institute, he began his career as an engineer at the Research Institute for Measuring Technology (NIIT) in Chelyabinsk.

In 1993, Mr. Pirogov co-founded “NIIT – Radiotechnical Systems,” where he served as Chief Engineer until 2003. That same year, he established the Research and Production Corporation “Radiotechnical Systems” (NPO RTS LLC), which under his leadership grew into a leading enterprise in the development, production, and implementation of radionavigation equipment.

Mr. Pirogov was directly involved in the creation of advanced instrument landing systems and served as Chief Designer of the ground-based radio equipment complex “Complex 734.” His contributions were recognized with patents, inventor’s certificates, and, by Presidential Decree No. 1203 of September 10, 1999, the Medal of the Order “For Services to the Fatherland,” Second Class.

He was distinguished by modesty, professionalism, and unwavering dedication to his work. His intuition, insight, and independence in decision-making allowed him to guide the development of Russian navigation and landing systems, leaving a lasting legacy in the national aviation industry.

Getting started

Research and Production Corporation “Radiotechnical Systems” was established in May 2003 by a group of specialists in the development of landing, navigation, and air traffic management systems. The founders brought with them decades of engineering experience, academic degrees, patents, and industry awards.

The company’s experts contributed to the design and development of landing systems such as SP-68, SP-75, SP-80M, SP-80N, SP-80V (E-617 for the Air Force), SP-90M, SP-90N, SP-90, as well as their various modifications.

At the initial stage, the company focused on maintenance and repair of existing systems deployed at airports across Russia and neighboring countries.

Development of metrological equipment

By 2004, the available metrological equipment required for maintenance and repair had become outdated. Therefore, a decision was made to initiate the design and production of a new generation of proprietary measurement systems.

The key requirements included:

  • Enhanced reliability characteristics
  • Use of modern component base
  • Compact dimensions
  • Ease of operation
  • Unified software control interface

As a result, the following instruments were developed:

The company obtained all the necessary licenses from the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.

The developed products were granted type certificates and production certificates by the Interstate Aviation Committee.

Development of Unified Landing and Navigation Systems

Legacy landing and navigation systems, developed during the Soviet era, required significant operational costs, while no new solutions were available on the market.

In 2005, our company coordinated and approved the technical specification for the R&D project “Development of Unified Ground Radio Equipment for Landing, Navigation, and Air Traffic Management Systems for Trunk and Regional Airports” with the State Research Institute “Aeronavigation” (FSUE GosNII “Aeronavigation”) and the CNS Division of the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia).

By 2007, the development of several systems within the Complex 734 package had been completed, along with the associated Console 734 software, including the ground-based radio equipment of the ILS 734 system.

The Complex 734 includes:

Today

The development of advanced high-tech equipment has enabled us to enter the market with modern products capable of replacing outdated systems and significantly enhancing the technical infrastructure of airports in Russia, the CIS, and other regions worldwide.

  • Development and production of next-generation radio equipment
  • Focus on state-of-the-art technical solutions and technologies
  • Execution of orders for the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia)
  • Cooperation with numerous airports in Russia, the CIS, and abroad
  • Export of proprietary products to international markets
  • Our company was recognized as the winner in the category “Best Innovative Project” at the national competition “Business Success 2012.”

Within our operations, we create:

  • High-tech, standardized equipment
  • Unique software that enables our systems to operate within a unified management and monitoring network, both as part of an integrated complex and as standalone units

We continue to advance the development of ground-based radio equipment for landing and navigation systems.
